YANKARI NATIONAL PARK

Looking for safari adventures that would leave you gasping?

Then the Yankari National park is the place for you.

Located in Bauchi North-eastern Nigeria, Yankari is the most popular tourist destination in Nigeria and among the most popular eco-destination in West Africa.

It is home to several mammal species including the bush buck, West African Lion, Hippopotamus and African bush elephants.

The national park is recognized to have one of the largest elephant population in West Africa.

The park also features four natural warm springs due to underground geothermal activities.

The largest being the Wikki warm spring is about 13.0 metres wide and 1.9 metres deep.

The spring has a constant temperature of 31.1 °C through the year during both day and night and has since been developed for recreation.

So why not go watch over 300 African bush elephants and see the Giraffes in their natural habitat and have some fun in the warm springs at the same time.

PLACES TO VISIT IN NIGERIA: OLUMO ROCK

The Olumo rock mountain is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Nigeria is in the heart of Abeokuta which means under the rock in Yoruba language.

This monumental rock served as protection for the Egba people during the inter-tribal war with Dahomey and has been held in high esteem by the people since then.

Visiting the rock will help you learn about the historical events that took place in the mid-1800s and give you an insight about the culture of the Yoruba people.

The rock is said to be about 137 meters from the base of the ground.

A trip to Olumo rock involves climbing to the top of the mountain and touring the local craftsmen stands.

The mountain has since been developed as a tourist attraction with man made stairs added to make the climb up the mountain easier for tourists.

LEKKI CONSERVATION CENTER

The Lekki conservation center is a great nature conservation and eco-tourism location ideal for family and friends get togethers.

Located on Lekki-epe expressway, it is home to several bird species and boasts of a Koi and Tilapia pond.

The conservation centre is home to the longest canopy walk in Africa.

The 401-metre-long canopy walkway is an ideal way to treat visitors to an unforgettable experience and gives them a chance to explore the park, discovering the different unique wildlife that inhabits the park.

Why don’t you pack a bag, take a few friends and have some barbecued chicken in the park because why not?

PLACES TO VISIT IN NIGERIA: OBUDU MOUNTAIN RESORT

If you’re looking for a perfect hiking or honeymoon location, I’ve got the perfect place for you to go.

The Obudu mountain resort was first discovered by M. McCaughley who first explored the mountain ranges in 1949.

It is located on the Obudu plateau, close to the Cameroon border in Cross River state.

From the ranch, you can see people making the 4-day journey to Cameroon on foot.

It consists of 7 villages that makes up the mountain community.

The mountain is about 1600 meters above sea level and it boasts of several waterfalls and a mini canopy walk.

It plays host to the annual Obudu mountain international race, a running competition of 11.5km.
