Here is a list of 7 natural foods that detox your body:

1. Turmeric

Tumeric is one of the best natural ingredients we have in our household. It has long been known to have powerful medicinal properties due to its high content of nutrients, anti-oxidants and offers anti-inflammatory properties. Also beneficial for fighting kidney disease and those pesky stones. The best way to consume turmeric is to add it to your rice, curries, stews, or even put it in a smoothie. Just make sure you don’t get it on your hands, as it stains! Turmeric is basically a rockstar all around and is something I recommend adding to your diet wherever possible.

2. Leafy Greens and Vegetables.

Leafy greens are packed full of Vitamin C and K, along with great folate. They also reduce your blood pressure, balance out your blood sugars, and reduce kidney stress. The best part is, there are many things you can do to make them attractive in your diet. These vegetables that are best eaten raw are also the best ones to consume for flushing toxins from your body.

Vegetables like cabbages, cauliflower, broccoli, brussels sprouts are great for helping the liver suppress and remove toxins during cleansing. These vegetables are usually consumed cooked but it is much preferable to eat them raw because according to studies, once these vegetables are cooked, they lost a lot of their nutritional content. However, the great thing about these vegetables is that they contain high levels of naturally occurring sulfur, a chemical that helps the liver get rid of the toxins during cleansing. Some great sources of nutrients for the body that also contains high levels of sulfur are kale, spinach, beet, oregano and carrots.

3. Cranberry Juice

Cranberry juice can be beneficial for urinary tract infections. However, it can offer your kidneys to function properly. Drinking cranberry juice can cleanse your kidneys of one of the leading causes of kidney stones – calcium oxalate. Although, it’s essential to choose organic or additive-free cranberry juice. The purer, the better. The upside is, cranberry juice is delicious as well as helpful! Blueberries are very high in antioxidants and have antiviral properties to help prevent infections. Blueberries also help decrease inflammation in the body, help protect your cells from free radical movement, and are full of fibre and vitamin-C. As a bonus, blueberries are low in calories and majorly delicious.

4. Apples

Apples are known to be rich in vitamins, fibre and minerals. They are also rich in phytochemicals and pectin, which all help in detox. Pectin flushes out food additives and metals in our body. Apples are best eaten raw and if consumed with the skin. Organic apples have higher antioxidants than those apples that are conventionally grown. Whole apples are high in both soluble and insoluble fibre. The soluble pectin fibre found in apples soaks up toxins in the body and helps move them easily through the intestines. So adding apples, even just one per day can help general body detoxification. Apples are also low-glycemic which means they are absorbed slowly and don’t cause spikes in blood sugar which can affect your mood, hunger levels, energy, etc.

5. Garlic

Using garlic for detoxing the body is also an ancient practice, though it’s not actually possible to speed up the rate of the natural body detox done by your liver and kidneys. While garlic may not actually flush out toxins, it does offer health benefits. Garlic contains high amounts of vitamin C, which supports your immune system and your liver. It also contains antioxidants, which help fight the free radicals in your bloodstream that are responsible for some of the effects of ageing, as well as being linked to certain kinds of cancer and heart disease. Garlic contains a natural substance called alliin. When you crush or chop fresh garlic, this breaks down into allicin, which contains many of garlic’s healing properties and also contributes to its strong smell. kamola

6. Ginger

Ginger is rich in phytochemicals — the healthy compounds found in plants — many people use ginger as a gastrointestinal aid. It has been used for centuries for medicinal purposes and as a healing agent. Ginger helps to improve liver function (which is the main organ for detoxification). Likewise, it helps to flush out toxins from the blood and lymph, increases your metabolism and fights disease. Just to specify, it improves detoxification by speeding up the movement of food through the intestines and reducing inflammation in the body. Since the intestines perform so much detoxification work, ginger can help boost your body’s ability to process food and eliminate body waste.
