The Ministry of Health recorded 15 new Covid-19 cases over the weekend, taking the total of those diagnosed with the virus to 104.
The new cases include two travellers from Dubai, two travellers from Turkey and the other cases that are contacts of previously confirmed positive cases who were identified through contact tracing.
So far, Dubai continues to remain the main source of most cases that have been positively diagnosed in Rwanda.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, all the patients have been isolated in a designated health facility with the majority of them in stable condition. “Majority are asymptomatic, and no patient is in critical condition,” reads part of the statement.
The Minister of Health recently said that the first group of patients are likely to be discharged at the end of this week.

The Ministry of Health also called for heightened vigilance among Rwandans and rigorous observance of the enhanced prevention measures announced by the government of Rwanda.
Extension of Covid-19 Lockdown Period
Similarly, with the rise of the number of Covid-19 cases, the government has taken several measures to mitigate the spread of the pandemic. The recent being the extension of the initial two-week lockdown, for more 15 days.
The lockdown was to end this weekend but was extended on Wednesday after the number of confirmed cases climbed from 17 to 82 in two weeks. During the extended lockdown, the borders will remain closed and only the entry of Rwandan citizens will be allowed.
Goods will continue to enter into the country. Shops, schools and places of worship will remain closed and employees will continue working from home. The current lockdown will go through April 19.
Rwanda’s cabinet ministers and top officials will donate their April salaries to the fight against the Covid-19 epidemic. Other officials who will give up their salaries are leaders of national institutions and top government officials.
Globally, there are more than 1,100,000 cases of Covid-19, while more than 63,000 patients have lost their lives in over 190 countries.
